Sniper/Observer Course

Course Description:

The Sniper/Observer course is designed as an introductory course for students new to the discipline and experienced precision riflemen alike. Students new to the discipline will be provided with a solid foundation of knowledge and skills to build upon. The experienced Sniper/Observer will be able to review, refresh and refine fundamental marksmanship skills and rifle craft. Experienced Sniper/Observers are encouraged to share their own lessons learned in operational settings with their fellow students. Instructional emphasis will concentrate on marksmanship fundamentals, position shooting and precision shooting. This course is 40 hours in length and includes classroom and range instruction.

  • Scoped Tactical Rifle with Sling
  • 300 rounds Match Grade Ammunition and 20 Rounds Barrier Ammunition
  • Bipod / Rucksack
  • Rifle Data Book
  • Tactical Gear (Body Armor, BDUs, LBV, Harness, etc.)
  • Eye and Ear Protection
  • Rifle Cleaning Kit and Supplies
  • Shooting Mat or Ground Cloth

Optional Equipment:

  • Spotting Scope / Binoculars
  • Hydration System
  • Helmet/Tactical Headset
  • Hide Kit
  • Tripod

Tuition: $600 Per Student, Discounts given to agencies enrolling three or more students. Hosting agencies are eligible for tuition waived enrollment. Payment in full is due prior to the beginning of the first day of class although billing can be deferred if the course is held within one month of the new fiscal year.

To ensure quality instruction, class size is limited to 10 students.

A course certificate is issued upon successful completion of a marksmanship-based qualification course of fire on the last day of class. Students are supplied with a course manual and ability utilize LongCover’s Consulting Service for questions and troubleshooting free of charge.

This course is available only to sworn Law Enforcement and active Military Personnel

Precision Carbine

Course Description:

The Precision Carbine course is designed for Patrol Officers who carry and deploy the AR-15/M4/M16 weapon system in their routine patrol operations. This course will provide Patrol Officers with the skills necessary to make precision shots on low percentage targets under stress and less than ideal conditions at distances of 50 to 75 yards and shots on high percentage targets out to 100 yards or beyond. The Precision Carbine course curriculum is akin to a Patrol Marksman School designed around the capabilities and limitations of the standard patrol rifle/carbine and operator. This course is 10 hours in length and includes classroom and range instruction.

Tuition: $200 Per Student, Discounts given to agencies enrolling three or more students. Hosting agencies are eligible for tuition waived enrollment. Payment in full is due prior to the beginning of the first day of class although billing can be deferred if the course is held within one month of the new fiscal year.

Advanced Urban Sniper/Observer

Course Description:

Advanced Urban Sniper/Observer is designed for officers currently assigned to a tactical team as a Sniper or Marksman who have completed a basic sniper or precision rifle course. Advanced Urban Sniper/Observer focuses heavily on unsupported and improvised shooting positions, urban concealment and deployment, and specialized external/terminal ballistics. Training topics covered throughout the course will build upon one another and culminate in scenarios and live fire qualification.
